Hydration Pack

One of the fondest childhood memories I have is camping with my dad. My dad and I would grab our sleeping bags, tent and fishing poles and head down to a local lake for a weekend. Camping can be a wonderful activity for the entire family. It can also become a huge disaster if you are not prepared or don’t know what to expect.
Regardless of where you go camping it is important that you be prepared. The following is a list of items you should consider for ensuring you are prepared for an enjoyable camping trip:

~a durable tent
~sleeping bags
~flashlights with extra batteries
~first aid kit
~water and hydration packs
~trash bags

If you carefully plan your camping trip, you and your family will surely have a great camping experience.

Geocaching in Bryant

It was a good saturday sunny and cool, since we are opening a Geocaching Center at Outskirts we just had to give it a try. Herman did a lookup at geocaching.com for a good location. He found there was a hidden cache in Mills Park. The kids were excited about using the GPS and actually trying to find something. We started out on our hunt.  The eTrex Vista was easy to use and following the compass heading was not a chore.  We looked for about an hour and got as close as 7 feet from the entered coordinates. But still no cache.  Kelsey and Kyle were looking under leaves, sticks and rocks. Kelsey asked what does a pine tree look like? From the clue and Kyle pointed to a pine tree one of many in the trails of Mills. Nothing looked like a cache. Kelsey found a little thicket and had Kyle look there. Lo and behold he found a small plastic container wrapped in camo tape. He opened it to find the log book and tokens of cache. A small plastic bowling pin, little purse, a couple of plastic coins and plastic dog.  Kyle logged the book with Outskirts 12/6/08 and closed up the container. Set the pine needles back so it looked like we werent even there. They had a blast looking and finding. Kelsey only decided that the next time she would wear better shoes.
